It All Starts With A Thought by Joel White

Every single day of our lives we have thoughts. They are almost a fundamental part of every single human individual. On average, research suggests that we have up to 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts per day (which is roughly 35 to 48 thoughts per minute). Even as you start to read this article you may having a number of multiple thoughts that seem to be happening all at the same time, or even continuously one after another.
The thoughts we have can be idea-like, memory-like, picture-like, or song-like. They also tend not to last. They also seem to be a constant stream and at times they seem to go quiet and something that you were not even thinking about just randomly pops into your head that you were not even consciously thinking about at given moment in time. Mental Illness: First Hand Experience by Joel White

What is the meaning of life? From a lot of reflection and avoidance to some degree in writing this article I have finally reached appoint where I feel more able to be at one with my inner feelings of vulnerability whilst also reaching the full realisation that I beat mental illness.

In my talk I will explore, with the audience, the following:

  • What is giving? I’ll explore various notions of giving, derived from relevant sources;
  • I’ll look at the act of giving and different types of giving, drawing on examples from well-known people. Do come along with your own examples;
  • I’ll look at what I consider to be a few myths misconceptions about giving, exploring some of the following with this aim:
  1. ‘We already spend a vast amount on foreign aid’;
  2. ‘The money we have spent has had little or no effect’;
  3. Giving is all about money;
  4. Giving and Instant gratification;
  5. When I give what do I receive in return?
